Police in Regional Division 9 found a shotgun on Tuesday while responding to a report of alleged domestic violence committed on a 32-year-old woman of Katoonarib Village by her husband, a 30-year-old farmer.
About 15:45hrs, a Police Sergeant and a Constable went to the home of the victim who took the ranks to the kitchen of her one-storey wooden home, measuring about ten feet in width and ten feet in length.
She then pointed out to the Police ranks one 20 gauge single-barrel shotgun with serial number 51 on metal part of frame, which was braced to a wall next to the gas stove along with one small black canvas bag which contained (3) 20 gauge empty cartridges.
The woman then indicated to the ranks that the said shotgun and empty cartridges were placed there by her husband. She also told the ranks that her husband threatened to shoot her with the weapon.
The police ranks then took possession of the shotgun and empty cartridges.
Police were unable to arrest the suspect and were told that he has since fled to neighbouring Brazil.
The shotgun and empty cartridges were taken to Lethem Police Station, marked, sealed and lodged as exhibits.
