Police have confirmed the death of 44-year-old Kevin Phillips, a mason of Melanie, East Coast Demerara (ECD). He was shot on Friday night around 22:20hrs at Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD.
Phillips was subsequently hospitalized with a gunshot injury to the abdomen.
An eyewitness told police that he was driving heading south on Bachelor’s Adventure Middle Road when he saw Phillips seated on the western half of the street on a culvert.
The eyewitness further stated that a man approached the now-deceased and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him. The witness said he then heard a loud explosion.
The suspect then fled the area.
Phillips was immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent surgery. He succumbed hours later.
Police investigations are ongoing.
