Agencies falling under the Ministry of Agriculture today signed several contracts for projects catered for within the ministry’s 2022 work programme.
Contracts totalling $605 million were signed by a number of contractors and suppliers to further advance the work of the Agriculture Ministry nationwide.
During the contract signing, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha urged contractors to deliver products and execute works based on their contractual obligations as those works and equipment are seen as critical to agricultural development.
The Minister said all contractual obligations should be fulfilled within the time prescribed. He acknowledged that the country continues to experience heavy rainfall but noted that citizens lobbied President, Dr. Irfaan Ali for most of the projects, “so they must be done in a timely manner.”
Minister Mustapha also told heads of agencies falling under the ministry to ensure that the projects commence on time since no extensions would be granted. He explained, “We are already in the seventh month of the year and we are hoping to conclude our work programme before the year is out.”
