Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck down at Good Hope

A 40-year-old, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) man is now nursing injuries he sustained during an accident at Good Hope, ECD, around 19:45hrs yesterday.

Guyana Standard understands that Ricardo Narine was crossing the road when he was struck down by motorcar, PNN 2435, which was being driven by 63-year-old Ian Clarke of Non Pariel, ECD.

The driver told investigators that he was proceeding east, when Narine, who he claims was clad in dark clothing, walked across the road from north to south into the path of the vehicle.

Narine suffered injuries to his head and other parts of his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state by the EMTs and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

He was later admitted and his condition is now listed as stable.

A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver of the motorcar returned readings of .095 and.099 micrograms of alcohol respectively.

Further investigations are underway.
