Detectives are probing an incident that occurred four days ago at Lot 3072 Well Road, North Ruimveldt, which resulted in the death of 50-year-old, Collin Wishart.
According to a 20-year-old taxi driver of the said address who is a relative of the deceased, the now dead man began to behave disorderly about 03:00hrs on the said date and was hitting the walls of the house, thereby disturbing family members and surrounding neighbours.
According to the relative, the man’s behaviour continued throughout the morning.
The taxi driver told cops that Wishart attacked him with a cutlass at around 14:00hrs while he was washing his car.
The 20-year-old managed to bar the attack with his left hand. Wishart then walked back to his room and continued to behave disorderly, while allegedly threatening to kill his 57-year-old sister, who also resides at the said address. He then began to pelt her with bottles.
The taxi driver, upon seeing that, pushed Wishart into his bedroom to calm him down. Wishart then ran to engage the taxi driver, but he fell onto the frame of his bed, hitting his head before collapsing.
Cops were informed and visited the scene where the body was seen lying on the right side in the bedroom door area.
The body was examined and injuries were seen to the left side eye area, above and below as well as to the upper left ear, forehead and the man’s right wrist area.
The man’s body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital and subsequently to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
The 20-year-old was arrested and is presently in custody at the East La Penitence Police Station assisting with the investigation.
