Two persons are now dead following an accident earlier today at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (EDC).
The incident occurred sometime around 13:00hrs and involved a minibus, BAB 4746, which was being driven by Andrew Albert of Lamaha Park, Georgetown and a motor pick-up, GNN 3048, driven by Michael Eon Lovell of Goed Intent Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
According to the police, tragedy struck when the minibus attempted to overtake the pickup. A collision occurred, which caused the minibus to pull further left and collided with a parked lorry, GAC 6803. The minibus also collided with another motor car, PLL 5535.
As a result of the collision, several people who were in the minibus received injuries and were taken to a city hospital for medical attention.
The driver of the bus, Andrew Lambert and an occupant, 38-year-old Annalisa Lackhan, of Lot 81 Gopie Street Buxton North, ECD, were pronounced dead.
The driver of the motor pick-up is in custody assisting with the investigation.
