Enquiries disclosed that the lorry was proceeding south along the Nelson Mandela Avenue, whilst the electric cycle was proceeding in the same direction in front of the motor lorry in the pedal cycle lane.

As the motor lorry attempted to drive pass the cyclist, the left rear wheel of the motor lorry collided with the cyclist, causing him to fall onto the road’s surface. Greenidge was reportedly crushed.

The motor lorry continued to proceed further south, where an unknown motorcar driver then stopped the motor lorry and informed the driver that he collided with a cyclist. The driver of the motor lorry was subsequently incepted by the Police.

An emergency ambulance from the Central Fire Station was summoned with EMT personnel, where the cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene by Doctor Kellman at 21:42hrs. His body was formally identified by his relatives and was escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home where it is presently awaiting post mortem examination.

Notice of Intended Prosecution was served on the driver of the motor lorry after a breathalyzer test conducted on him found no trace of alcohol in his breath. He is presently in police custody assisting with further investigations.
