Ajay Persaud, 24, was charged today with the murder of his wife, Analee Gonsalves.
Persaud, who is on remand at the Lusignan Prison, appeared virtually today before Magistrate Faith McGusty and was further remanded to prison until November 24, 2022.
He is accused of dousing Gonsalves with hot porridge at their La Parfaite Harmonie, West Coast Demerara home on August 23, 2022. The woman sustained severe burn injuries to her back, face and other parts of her body. She died of sepsis two months later.
Persaud, who managed to evade capture, was nabbed last month at a gas station in Berbice.
