Police are probing a fatal incident which occurred around 01:15 hrs this morning on the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The accident involved motorcar, PKK 2362, owned by Shiraz Ali of Lot 18 Blossom Scheme, Enmore, East Coast Demerara and driven at the time by a male, whose name and address are so far unknown.
There were two other occupants in the vehicle at the time – Sudesh Mahadeo (now deceased), 18, of Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, and Komal Rewtie, a 19-year-old also of Bee Hive.
Enquiries disclosed that motorcar PKK 2362 was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara, at a fast rate when the driver lost control of the vehicle. In the process, the vehicle spun twice and collided with a concrete fence just off the road’s northern edge.
Due to this collision, Sudesh Mahadeo was flung through the front windshield onto the road’s surface. He was lying motionless whilst the driver and other occupants were stuck in the vehicle.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene, where the doctor on duty pronounced Sudesh Mahadeo dead. The body was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The driver was admitted at the Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition.
Investigations are in progress.
