The great-niece of the 85-year-old pensioner who was found murdered in her Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice home was remanded to prison this morning.
It is alleged that on November 29, 2022, at Bushlot West Coast Berbice, 37-year-old Roshnie Basdeo, murdered her great aunt, 85-year-old Sumintra Sawh, called “Aunty Betty”. Basdeo was not required to enter a plea.
She was arraigned before Magistrate Peter Hugh.
Magistrate Hugh adjourned the matter to December 14 at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.
An autopsy performed on Sawh on November 29, 2022, at the Bailey’s Funeral Home in Berbice revealed that she died of suffocation and haemorrhaging from a fractured skull caused by multiple stab wounds to the head.
