Two city moneychangers were robbed yesterday by two gunmen of an undisclosed sum of local and foreign currency.
The robbery took place around 13:45hrs on Water Street, Georgetown.
Enquiries revealed that the two victims, a 66-year-old from Vlissengen Road, Georgetown and a 41-year-old from Sophia, were plying their trade when they were confronted by the two men.
During the confrontation, one of the suspects, who was armed with a firearm, relieved one of the victims of his money. The other victim was shot while the robbers attempted to steal his money.
The robbers then escaped on a motorcycle that was parked nearby.
The shot victim was picked up and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he is presently receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
A .32 spent shell was recovered from the scene.
Investigations are ongoing.
