Today, two Brazilian nationals, Alexandre Felix Plan, a helicopter pilot, and Ricardo Brags Silva, a laborer, were charged with multiple offences before Magistrate Allan Wilson at the Lethem Magistrate Court via Zoom. Both accused have pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges and were remanded to prison. The case has been postponed for trial on March 16th and 17th.
Court documents revealed that Alexandre Felix Plan, 54, residing at RUA Pariba 45, Apartment 108 Santos-SP, Brazil, was charged with operating a civil aircraft without an airworthiness certificate, interference with an aircraft, operating an aircraft without insurance, and disembarking without the consent of an Immigration Officer.
Ricardo Brags Silva, 29, residing at RUA Laranjeira, Apartment 104 Bloco: 08, Belém, Brazil, was charged with disembarking without the consent of an Immigration Officer.
These charges are in violation of Sections 89(2), 121, and 137(4) of the Civil Aviation Act, No. 21 of 2018, and Section 34(1)(a) of the Immigration Act Chapter 14:02. Both accused were arrested on February 20, 2023, and have been remanded to prison.
The charges follow an investigation by the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority after the accused landed a helicopter in Guyana without authorization. Further investigations led to the discovery of multiple violations, resulting in the charges laid against the Brazilians.
