Officers attached to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Monday intercepted a motor vehicle bearing registration number HD 1880, which had two male occupants. Upon conducting a subsequent search of the vehicle in the presence of the occupants, officers found twelve parcels of cannabis.
The two male occupants, identified as Naresh Ramdeen, 37, of Jack low, Pomeroon River, and Stefan Mohammed, 29, of Coffee Grove, Essequibo Coast, were arrested at the scene and escorted to the CANU Headquarters along with the narcotics.
Further investigation revealed that the drug was imported cannabis with a total weight of approximately 30 lbs. (13.34 kg), and a street value of approximately GUY$5M.
The two men are in custody, and it is expected that they will soon be charged with drug-related offences.
