As Guyana’s energy industry continues to take precedent in the global spotlight, several conferences, summits and similar engagements have been hosted to discuss the many opportunities and benefits that come with the quickly growing industry.
Just last month, the curtains were pulled on the four-day International Energy Conference and Expo 2023, which is the largest energy forum held in Guyana. Now, Guyanese have yet another forum to look forward to following the announcement of a Local Content Summit on April 4, 2023.
The event which will be hosted at the Pegasus Corporate Suites and Centre is being hosted by MBW Energy Support Services Inc, under the theme “Sustaining Supplier Development through Local Content Partnerships”. It is slated to place a heavy focus on the importance of the development and structure of Guyana’s Local Content Policy, Local Content Certification, benefits for Guyanese, and the creation of partnerships to boost the economic development of the country’s oil and gas sector.
It also aims to bring together government officials and industry leaders to engage in potent discussions on the development and structure of Guyana’s Local Content Policy and Certification process, strategic partnerships, local capacity development and more.
The company has already publicised some of the speakers for the event, which includes members of the local private sector, academics and representatives of industry-leading oil and gas companies operating in Guyana.
Some of these speakers are, Michael Gow, Country Manager of Subsea7; President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Timothy Tucker; Chief Executive Officer of the Georgetown American University, Dr. Melissa Varwsyk; Chief Executive Officer of Sagacity, Christopher Chapwanya and Rowena Elliot, President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Persons can attend this event both in-person and virtually, and it will also feature an exhibition component, which encourages businesses to market and display their services and products offered.
