Last night, an alleged shooting incident took place at the home of a 34-year-old businesswoman and her 47-year-old reputed husband, a minibus driver, in ‘B’ Field Sophia.
According to the police, the couple was attacked by three armed and masked men who arrived in a black-tinted motorcar, the make and model of which are unknown at this time.
The incident occurred around 21:20hrs on Thursday while the businesswoman was sitting in front of her shop with a friend, and her husband was inside the shop. The suspects approached the victims and discharged several rounds of ammunition, injuring both the husband and wife.
After the attack, the suspects quickly fled the scene in their vehicle. The husband immediately took his wife to Georgetown Public Hospital in his minibus. The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. However, their conditions are listed as stable.
Upon inspection of the crime scene, the police found four 9MM spent shells and a suspected warhead. CCTV footage from the shop was also viewed and extracted to aid in the ongoing investigation.
The police are yet to identify the suspects, and investigations are still ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the authorities.
