SBM Offshore announced today that the ONE GUYANA, slated to be Guyana’s largest floating, production and offloading (FPSO) vessel to date, has entered drydock at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore where its construction will continue.
In a release the company stated, “This marks a key milestone in the project, this phase will include work on the vessel, installation of the mooring structures and riser balcony.” It also noted that the topsides construction is progressing as per its project schedule. Upon its completion, it will join the Liza Unity, Liza Destiny, and Prosperity FPSOs, all of which were constructed by the Dutch floater specialist for its long-standing client and Guyana’s Stabroek Block operator, ExxonMobil.
SBM Offshore is collaborating with international engineering and construction company McDermott, under a special purpose company contracted under the Yellowtail project to perform front-end engineering and design. SBM Offshore holds 70% equity in the company, while McDermott holds the remaining 30 percent. It must be noted that once construction is complete, SBM Offshore will have full ownership of the vessel.
The ONE GUYANA vessel will be used to produce approximately 250,000 barrels of oil per day, it will also possess an associated gas treatment capacity of 450 million cubic feet per day and a water injection capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. In addition, the vessel will be spread moored in a water depth of roughly 1,800 meters and is capable of storing approximately two million barrels of crude oil.
This fourth FSPO will be used for ExxonMobil and its partners’ fourth development in the Stabroek Block, the Yellowtail project, which is deemed the largest of projects since the commencement of oil production in December 2019. Under the Yellowtail Project, Exxon will drill around 45 to 67 wells for the 20-year duration of its investment and once plans are executed within schedule, it is expected that production in the development will kickstart in the latter part of 2025.
As Guyana anticipates the completion of the ONE GUYANA FPSO, the nation is also on the lookout for the third ship, the Prosperity, which is on its way and is set to arrive on April 18, which is less than a month away.
