On Monday 29, 2023, Cataleya Energy Limited (CEL), the only local interest holder in the Kaieteur Block partner, held a graduation ceremony for its SeminarCLUB programme. This follows the conclusion of a six-month business management training programme with 18 students in Georgetown.
The programme, facilitated by ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc, aimed to equip Guyanese individuals with the necessary skills to lead businesses across the agriculture, agro-processing, tourism and hospitality, and manufacturing sectors.
According to ActionINVEST, the training consisted of 12 bi-weekly sessions, each lasting three hours and covered 12 focus areas that imparted both technical and administrative skills. It further noted that the participants would have shared their newfound knowledge and skills, some of which were financial management techniques, customer-first methodologies, and systematizing operations.
Dr. Vishnu Doerga, Chairman of ActionINVEST, was present at the graduation ceremony and noted that “investing in Guyana and its human resource will transition the country from a developing economy to a developed economy.” He expressed his delight at the success of the programme and the commitment and hard work of the graduates.
The programme he noted, is funded by Cataleya Energy. The company partnered with ActionINVEST for its execution due to outstanding feedback about its courses offered. It was officially launched in September 2022 and following its announcement, the company received an influx of applicants, but all could not be facilitated in the first programme. As such, it was noted by Cataleya’s co-founder and Director, Ryan Perreira, that the programme will be repeated yet again to facilitate 20 more applicants.
The company believes that a diversified economy is foremost in a nation’s success and the programme also supports President Irfaan Ali’s vision to increase productivity and sustained growth across various industries. The programme is also deemed a fulfilment of its corporate social responsibility.
