Operator of the Stabroek Block and ExxonMobil Corporation’s subsidiary, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), is organizing a Request for Information (RFI) Clarification Forum for suppliers who are interested in participating in its recently published RFIs. The event is scheduled for April 17 and will be hosted at the prestigious Marriott Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown.
The company has issued two RFIs, one for biodiversity assessments and environmental monitoring, and another for consultancy services related to environmental and socioeconomic assessments. The first RFI aims to establish an agreement for the provision of consultancy services for onshore and nearshore biodiversity assessments and environmental monitoring in Guyana.
The second seeks to establish an agreement for the provision of consultancy services for environmental and socioeconomic assessments.
These assessments will include environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Cumulative Impact Assessments (CIAs), Community Health and Safety Plans, and Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEPs).
All interested companies are encouraged to register with the Centre for Local Business Development (CLBD) in Guyana, which can be done via [http://centreguyana.com](http://centreguyana.com “smartCard-inline”) or by visiting the CLBD’s office. ExxonMobil has emphasized that registration with the CLBD is not mandatory to access or respond to the RFI.
However, an indication was made that interested companies must ensure that they are registered on the Local Content Register, which is operated by the Local Content Secretariat, under the Ministry of Natural Resources.
ExxonMobil Guyana has also underlined that the Centre provides training sessions related to the oil and gas sector, as well as other opportunities for RFIs.
Both RFIs published by Exxon coincide with environmental campaigners’ increasing focus on the potential impacts of proposed petroleum projects, both offshore and onshore, in Guyana.
