The mother of Albouystown youth, Christopher Mansfield who was killed four years ago by four men, says she is still not satisfied with the justice meted out thus far for her son’s death.
The youth’s mother, Vanessa Mansfield, explained that while the police were able to arrest a suspect, who was earlier this year committed to stand trial in the High Court, she wants the other assailants to face the courts.
Mansfield explained that she has made several inquiries with the police to ascertain why the other suspects were not captured. But all she has been handed for the last four years, is a litany of excuses.
“I am still a grieving mother. The 31st of March makes it four years since my son was murdered. And still, up to now…the (other) shooters still on the run. What I am seeing is that I am not getting justice. They only caught one and they ain’t making no effort to find the others and everyday I does be grieving for my child,” the woman said.
According to information from the Guyana Police Force, Mansfield, who resided in Barr Street, Albouystown, was at Non Pareil Street, also in Albouystown, where he was attacked.
Around 06:47hrs that night, whilst walking, the suspects approached on bicycles and shot him in the right side abdomen. The victim ran to seek refuge in a nearby yard but collapsed.
Mansfield was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens and was pronounced dead on arrival.
