Police in the North West District (NWD) on Wednesday morning, intercepted a vehicle at a roadblock in the vicinity of Falls Top Village. Two men were taken into custody after officers discovered a parcel containing 1114 grams of suspected marijuana.
An Assistant Superintendent and several other officers were conducting a routine patrol when they stopped a black Toyota Fielder Wagon. During a search of the vehicle, a passenger in the front seat was seen throwing a bulky black parcel out of the car. Police recovered the parcel and found that it contained a quantity of suspected cannabis leaves, seeds, and stems.
The passenger, identified as 39-year-old Levon Lynch of Citrus Grove, Port Kaituma, was found to be carrying a .32 Taurus Pistol with ammunition and a license for the firearm. Both Lynch and the driver of the vehicle, Roy Chan, also 39, were arrested and taken to the Port Kaituma Police Station along with the suspected drug.
The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. The firearm and ammunition were lodged with the Station Sergeant for safekeeping, while the substance was marked and lodged pending analysis.
