A fatal accident occurred on the Good Hope public road on Thursday morning, claiming the life of 63-year-old, Takurand Seemangal.
The accident involved motor van #GGG 6387, which was owned by the deceased and driven at the time by Wilfred Sanasie, a 38-year-old from Shell Road, Kitty, and a parked motor lorry #GLL 3694. According to initial reports, the van was proceeding east along the northern driving lane when it collided with the lorry which was stationary on the northern side of the road facing east.
The driver and occupant of the van were both injured in the accident and were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where they were examined. Unfortunately, Seemangal was pronounced dead on arrival, while the driver is currently warded, suffering from head injuries.
The body of the deceased is presently lying at the GPHC’s mortuary and will soon undergo a post-mortem examination.
