A Venezuelan man was caught at the Takutu International Bridge in Lethem, Guyana, with 21 small parcels of cocaine stuffed in his mouth. The 30-year-old, Eleo Geveiro, was apprehended by joint services ranks on duty at the bridge on Saturday night.
Geveiro, a handyman from Tabatinga in Central Rupununi, was stopped by the ranks who then conducted a search on his person. Upon inspection, his mouth appeared to be full, and the officers asked him to open it. The suspect spat out 21 small black plastic parcels that were all tied up. The contents of each parcel were found to contain cocaine.
The officers informed Geveiro of the offence he had committed, and he was subsequently cautioned and arrested. He was then taken to the Lethem Police Station, where the 11.4 grams of cocaine were weighed in his presence.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is scheduled to be charged later today.
