Devindra Moteeram, a 26-year-old businessman of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was remanded to prison after he was slapped with several ‘Break and Enter and Larceny’ charges committed at several bonds on the East Bank of Demerara.
Moteeram was charged yesterday. The court heard that he allegedly stole the following items that were stored in a 40ft container, owned by Aranco Services Inc: 46 sash windows valued at $782,000; 6 awning windows valued at $39,000 each; 6 sash windows valued at $96,000; two buckets of oil paint (5 gallons each) valued at $62,000 and two electric saws valued at $90,000 each.
The incident occurred sometime between March 25th, 2023 at about 17:00hrs and March 26th, 2023 at 09:45hrs at the Young Professionals Scheme at Prospect, East Bank Demerara.
The accused appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him via Zoom. He pleaded not guilty and bail was refused. He was remanded to prison and the matter was postponed until May 15 for Disclosure.
Moteeram was also charged for another ‘Break and Enter and Larceny’, this time committed on the storage bond owned by Ghansham Rajpaul, a 27-year-old Contractor of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, to wit: one green and black ‘Total’ Generator valued at $85,000
The incident occurred between March 28th 2023 at 17:30hrs and March 29th at 07:30hrs at Prospect Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
He pleaded not guilty to this charge and bail was refused. He was remanded to prison and this matter was postponed to May 15 for Disclosure.
Moteeram was also charged yesterday for ‘Break and Enter and Larceny’, committed on the property of Anil Singh, a 37-year-old Manager for Premier Insurance Company. He allegedly stole one generator valued at $350,000; ome compacter valued at $135,000; one grinder valued at $15,000;
one electric saw valued at $15,000; one electric drill valued at $40,000; one water pump valued at $10,000; and one welding plant valued at $45,000.
Guyana Standard understands that Moteeram also allegedly stole several other pieces of equipment from Kamrul Baksh, the Director of Guyana Tourism Authority.
