Contractor B. Harry Sawmill has been instructed by the Ministry of Public Works to fix all defects related to the Wismar Street in Linden, Region 10. The instruction came in accordance with item 25 of the contract document “Correction of Defects,” which was signed with the Government of Guyana via the Ministry of Public Works.
The ministry urged the contractor to fix the issues as soon as possible to minimize the inconvenience to residents. The public has also been assured that the ministry’s Special Projects Unit (SPU) will be working closely with the contractor to ensure that the work is done according to set standards, and all defects are remedied in a timely manner.
According to reports, sections of the road developed defects due to high moisture content in the sub-base layer, which was brought to the contractor’s attention via a letter.
The ministry expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their cooperation and partnership in development.
