Police are currently investigating an accident that occurred at approximately 6:15 PM on Tuesday, on the Coldingen Access Road in East Coast Demerara (ECD), resulting in the death of Akram Samaroo, a 28-year-old mechanic from Lot 334 Section ‘B’ Non Pareil, ECD.
According to reports, Samaroo was driving motorcar PTT 4607 and traveling south along the eastern side of the road at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn. The car flipped and landed in a nearby trench, where it became submerged in water.
Public-spirited citizens were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) examined him at the scene. Unfortunately, Samaroo was pronounced dead on site. His body was then transported to Jerrick’s Funeral Home, where it will undergo a post-mortem examination.
