The community of Sophia was thrown into a state of mourning after a mother of two was stabbed to death in front of her children, by her former boyfriend whom she tried to break up with. That former boyfriend is now in custody assisting with the investigation after he was apprehended by relatives of the now dead woman.
Dead is Lisa Daniels of lot 604 C Field Sophia. She was stabbed multiple times about her body by her partner, Meshack Benjamin. The two reportedly shared an only four month relationship. Family members told detectives that Benjamin became obsessed with the now dead woman and as such, she ended their relationship.
Both Daniels and Benjamin reportedly worked together at a local security firm. A source close to the investigation revealed that Daniels made several attempts to leave her former partner, but Benjamin became relentless every time the topic of a separation arose. The source said that as recent as last month, the assailant reportedly attempted suicide in an effort to persuade the Daniels to stay in the relationship.
But this only made matters worse according to the source, who told this publication that Daniels ended their relationship sometime last month. However, in the wee hours of this morning, neighbours recounted repeatedly hearing Daniels shouting, “Please leave me alone,” before she started screaming along with her children. Those screams alerted neighbours and family members who quickly rushed into the house.
One neighbour told media operatives at the scene, “By the time her family got into the house he had already stabbed her all over her body. She was bleeding terribly. But the sick part was that he did it in front of them children. It’s sickening that them children had to witness their mother bleed to death like that.” Neighbours further stated that Benjamin was quickly apprehended and restrained with the knife still in his hands. There was also a second knife found on his side.
When asked about whether a report was made to the police about the Benjamin’s relentless behavior, the source said that while there is not a report, based on the information gathered from family, it seemed most of her relatives were aware of Benjamins behavior. The source said Benjamin will remain in custody until he is due for court. Daniles leaves to mourn her two children ages 12 and 8.
