Brazilian helicopter pilot, Alexander Felix Plan, who was arrested in Guyana on February 20, 2023, for illegal entry and charged on February 27th, has changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’.
During his recent court appearance on May 3, 2023, the defendant changed his plea through an interpreter with the representation of Attorney-at-Law Jevon Cox.
Alexander Felix Plan was charged with several offences and has been sentenced to millions of dollars in fines and jail time.
He was charged with operating a civil aircraft without an airworthiness certificate, contrary to Section 89(2) of the Civil Aviation Act, and was fined one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1.5M) and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
Furthermore, he was charged with operating an aircraft without insurance, contrary to Section 137(4) of the Civil Aviation Act, and was fined two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2.5M) or alternatively sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
Additionally, he was charged for disembarking without the consent of an immigration officer, contrary to Section 34(1)(a) of the Immigration Act Chapter 14:02, and was fined thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) and sentenced to twelve months imprisonment.
Finally, Alexander Felix Plan was charged with interference with an aircraft, contrary to Section 121 of the Civil Aviation Act, and was fined one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1.5M) and sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment.
All sentences are to run concurrently.
