Police have confirmed that the suspect in the murder of Sir Kirwyn Mars was arrested earlier today and is currently being questioned by ranks of the Major Crimes Unit. While the details of the individual have not been immediately released, Guyana Standard was able to confirm that the arrest of the suspect took place in Georgetown.
This news outlet also understands that the suspect during questioning earlier today told detectives that the two were well known to each other. While this agency’s usually reliable source could not divulge more information, Guyana Standard was able to confirm that the suspect was at the scene the night of Mars’ murder.
Sir Mars was killed on Sunday night after he and another man had an altercation at Perseverance, East Bank Demerara. Mars was killed immediately after he was run over and pinned to the fence of an apartment complex.
