Police in Regional Division 9 are investigating a the suspected murder of an unidentified male whose body was found at about 16:00hrs yesterday underneath the Takutu River Bridge that links Guyana and Brazil.
The body was seen in a sitting position bracing the concrete bridge wall. The deceased was clothed in a black long-sleeve shirt and black underwear. The hands and feet were tied with a multi-coloured rope, and the neck was also tied with a cloth suspected to be the victim’s pants.
Marks of violence were seen on the right knee and neck. The body was removed and escorted to Lethem Regional Hospital, where Dr Bahadur pronounced it dead.
The body is presently lying at the said Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.
