Police say that the man who was killed this morning along with prison escapee, Royden Williams, aka “Smallie”, has been identified as Odel Roberts, called “Gulley Side”.
Guyana Standard understands that Williams and Roberts were part of a trio being hunted by police following a jailbreak earlier this month in which “Smallie” escaped.
The other man, Neon Howard, called “Taxi”, was killed several days ago during a joint service operation in the region.
According to the force, the Joint Services ranks were able to set up a “dragnet” within the 33 Miles, Potaro Road, Bartica area while they remained in pursuit.
As a consequence, during the said operation, on Thursday, the 1st June, 2023, during the morning period, Royden Williams and his accomplice, Odel Roberts, were intercepted by a team of “highly trained” members of the Joint Services.
It said that a confrontation ensued during which both Royden Williams and his alleged accomplice were fatally shot.
Guyana Standard was informed that none of the ranks were injured during the operation.
Investigators retrieved from the men a M70 rifle and 79 rounds of live ammunition.

10. Three small batteries
11. One toothbrush
12. Three clothes pins, and
13. One condom
Thereafter, the bodies of Williams and Roberts were escorted out of the area to the mortuary in Georgetown. A post-mortem is scheduled.
