President Irfaan Ali and President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, recently outlined their interest in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector in driving economic growth, President Ali applauded the growing interest of Dominican Republic businesses in Guyana. He also mentioned the imminent launch of commercial flights by Skycana, which has emerged as a game-changer in strengthening connectivity and boosting tourism between Guyana and the Dominican Republic. This development he said, is set to unlock new opportunities, facilitate cultural exchanges, and streamline travel for individuals and businesses, laying the foundation for a robust people-to-people network.

While focusing on bilateral matters, Presidents Ali and Abinader expressed their commitment to addressing regional challenges. They vowed to champion the cause of Small Island Developing States, advocating for crucial issues such as food security, energy sustainability, and climate change adaptation. Their joint efforts will seek innovative solutions to combat the pressing threat of sargassum, protecting their economies and coastal communities.
