Cops yesterday carried out a cordon and search at a popular hangout spot on Spliff Street, Buxton, East Coast Demerara, where several males were seen sitting. On arrival at the location, the males fled in various directions leaving three haversacks. A search was carried out on the haversacks and the following were found:
1. 72 transparent ziplock plastic bags containing a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems;
2. One compressed transparent plastic containing a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems and two transparent ziplock plastic bags containing a hard white substance suspected to be cocaine; and
3. One compressed transparent plastic containing a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems, a quantity of cash suspected to be proceeds from the sale of same.
The cannabis was weighed and amounted to 677 grams, while the cocaine amounted to .5 grams. The suspected proceeds amounted to $6,640.
Investigations are ongoing.
