Once the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gives the necessary approvals, GuyAmerica Construction located at 48 Stanley Place, Kitty, will develop a state-of-the-art US$3M Asphalt Plant on a parcel of land on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
According to the project documents published on the EPA’s website, the site for the developmental works is 52 acres. It is currently unoccupied. The company said only 5 acres will be developed in phase one of the project but the remaining 47 acres will be utilised for future use.
The project summary states that Reeaz Khan, proprietor of GuyAmerica Construction Inc., is the mastermind behind the development. It was noted that the proposed plant will provide the company with timely and to specification asphalt for its infrastructure and road construction contracts with the Guyana Government. The developmental budget for the project is US$3M and will be financed through a private bank loan. The design life for the project is estimated at 100+ years.
Guyamerica Construction Inc. which is located in Kitty, Georgetown also has an equipment storage yard at 1365 New Industrial Site, Eccles, East Bank Demerara, Guyana. The company had commenced operations in July 2010 and has so far executed over G$6B in large scale road construction and housing scheme infrastructure works.
The company boasted of having an outstanding track record for delivering major construction projects in a timely manner and at the highest possible quality standard for the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Agriculture and other local and foreign housing development companies such as the Shangrelia Estates of Bronx, New York and Richmondville Housing Development of Queens, New York.
Its services include the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of new and existing roads; construction of drains, culverts, bridges; installation of water networks; along with a wide range of other products and services. It recently completed the four lane highway from Eccles to Mandela Avenue and Eccles to Great Diamond.
