William DeAbreau who was wanted for a string of robberies in Region Four, is dead.
He passed away at about 17:50hrs at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation while receiving treatment for gunshot wounds sustained during a shootout with police at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara.
According to the Guyana Police Force, upon seeing the police, DeAbreau drew a firearm discharged several rounds in the police’s direct direction.
Ranks took cover and returned fire . He subsequently fell to the ground where one .32 Taurus Pistol and a magazine containing 3 live rounds were recovered from his hand.
His body was examined and one gunshot wound was seen to his right chest and one each to both feet. He was escorted to the hospital where he died.
Ranks took possession of the firearm and magazine containing ammunition and lodged same at the Vigilance Police Station. Investigations are in progress.
