Police are investigating an armed robbery committed on a 42-year-old security guard attached to Sheriff Security Service, which occurred at around 23:00 hrs on Wednesday at Craig Old Road, East Bank Demerara.

The robbery was committed by four men, one of whom was armed with a gun. Three of the suspects are currently in custody.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim was walking along Busbee Dam in Craig when the four perpetrators in a Silver Grey motor vehicle drove up alongside him and stopped. The men came out of the vehicle, and one placed a handgun to his head. They then took away the following items from the victim:

1) One briefcase valued at $13,000
2)One 20-point Diamond valued at $200,000
3)One gold chain valued at $156,000
4)Three Samsung cellphones value at $43,000, $32,000 and $26,000
5) One Guyana Passport and Birth Certificate in favour of the victim

The suspects then made good their escape in the motor vehicle. Acting on information received, ranks from the Golden Grove Police Station intercepted a Silver Grey motor vehicle bearing registration number PAB 9592. Four men exited the vehicle, and the suspect with the gun discharged several rounds towards the Police and made good his escape.

The three others: Andy Budhan, age 24; Daniel Singh, age 29; and Michael Patraj, age 23, all of whom are from Grove, East Bank Demerara, were arrested and placed into custody.

The motor vehicle (# PAB 9592) that they were travelling in was lodged at Grove Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
