As it continues its operations in the prolific Stabroek Block, ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) has issued a Request for Information (RFI), from potential suppliers to meet bid selection requirements for telecom structured cabling system supply and installation services in Georgetown.
In the RFI it said that Exxon is planning to establish a goods and services agreement with local companies that can provide the service which will support its anticipated cabling needs, encompassing both new and existing structures within the Georgetown area.
It also noted that suppliers must be capable of executing tasks such as performing and coordinating site surveys crucial for structural cabling installation, managing and interpreting survey data for design and installation purposes, and developing a basis of design adhering to relevant standards.
Furthermore, the identified suppliers are expected to handle the planning, procurement, installation, and certification of Panduit CAT 6A Ethernet cabling and peripherals, with an acknowledgment that standards may evolve. Similarly, the RFI encompasses planning, procurement, installation, and certification of Corning fiber optic cabling (SM/MM) and associated peripherals.
The company also emphasized that vendor relationships are a key aspect, and potential suppliers are required to maintain connections with dealers for Panduit, Corning, Leviton, and other structural cabling companies. Additionally, the RFI includes the installation of Cisco Wireless Access Points in ceilings, incorporating any necessary structural backing.
EMGL also emphasized the importance of local content. Contractors are required to demonstrate their awareness of the Local Content Act (2021) during the bid process and outline their preliminary local content strategy. These requirements aim to support Guyanese suppliers, subcontractors, and the local workforce, aligning with EMGL’s commitment to the Guyanese community and environmental responsibility.
