The Guyana Manufacturing Services Association (GMSA) celebrated its 28th Annual Presentation Awards Dinner last evening, recognizing outstanding contributions from 22 businesses and individuals.
One of the notable awards was made to NRG Holdings Inc. that received the GMSA New Technology in Business award for developing a cutting-edge, multipurpose port facility on a man-made island off Vreed en Hoop, expanding Guyana’s ship discharge capacity.
On the other hand, corporate social responsibility awards were presented to CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited, ExxonMobil Guyana, SBM Offshore, and the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT).
Aurora Gold Mines (AGM) Inc. earned the Reduction in Carbon Footprint award for its significant green initiatives, particularly its investment in a PV (Solar) system to power operations in Aurora, Region 7.
N&S Algoo Licensed Customs Brokerage Services Inc. also received an award for its significant contribution to the Oil and Gas sector, which acknowledged the company’s diverse brokerage, logistic offerings, and partnerships.

In addition, the association’s President Ramsay Ali, in addressing the audience, emphasized the growth of local companies in 2023. However, he acknowledged existing gaps in preparation for future development and highlighted the upcoming ‘GMSA Impact Manufacturers’ Summit’ in 2024, aimed at promoting Guyana as a manufacturing destination.
