In an effort to boost community engagement and knowledge sharing, the Canada-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) today unveiled its innovative two-part event called the “Energy Link Up.”
The event, which is being held from June 21-22, 2024 will feature an expo and conference-styled forum, is designed to actively involve a wider Guyanese audience, providing them with direct access to key industry players and valuable insights into the vast opportunities within Guyana’s dynamic energy sector.
Notable figures present at the launch event today included Jake Thomas, Chargé d’affaires at the High Commission of Canada to Guyana; Dr. Surendra Persaud, Board Director at CGCC; and Rochelle Parasram, Chief Executive Officer of CGCC.
Jake Thomas, expressed his endorsement of the initiative, stating, “The ‘Energy Link Up’ by the Canada-Guyana Chamber of Commerce is a commendable initiative.” He highlighted the event’s role in promoting accessibility and knowledge sharing within Guyana’s energy sector, fostering broader community engagement, and creating opportunities for collaboration.
Expected to attract a diverse audience, ranging from small entrepreneurs to students, the “Energy Link Up” promises an affordable and enriching experience, aiming to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration. The event is anticipated to play a pivotal role in generating employment opportunities and making the energy industry more accessible and valuable to all Guyanese.
Dr. Surendra Persaud elucidated the vision behind the event, stating, “The Chamber aimed to create an event that would reach the broader Guyanese audience without altering the core topics but by removing barriers.” He added, “This marks the first step in an ongoing initiative that brings essential education and information about the energy sector to every Guyanese.”
Parasram in her remarks emphasized the collaborative aspect of the event. She said, “We will explore how Canadian energy enterprises can benefit from collaboration with Guyana, enhancing our energy infrastructure and efficiency. It’s not just about business; it’s about forging partnerships that lead to shared success.”
The Chamber noted that the “Energy Link Up” is poised to be more than just an event; it represents a strategic effort to forge connections, share knowledge, and catalyze collaboration for a more robust and inclusive energy sector in Guyana.
