The Guyana Government is moving to construct a flyover structure linking the exit road of the new Demerara Harbour Bridge to the bypass road that leads to Ogle. The structure will span over the newly commissioned Heroes Highway that stretches from Eccles in the north to Great Diamond in the south.

Public Works Minister, Bishop Juan Edghill made the revelation today, moments after a visit to the location. He was accompanied to the site by Housing and Water Minister, Collin Croal and the Ministry’s Works Services Group.

“So, when you come from West Demerara, you come straight over the new Harbour Bridge, and you don’t have to come through Georgetown. You get a flyover. So, you cross Heroes Highway and another two kilometers you go down, you’ll be connected directly to that four-lane road at Ogle. So, you’ll be able to get all the way up to the Corentyne without having to come through all that business of Georgetown,” he explained.

The minister noted that works are ongoing on the project.

“Progress is advancing, and we anticipate that there will be a speeding up in 2024. This is one of the better managed projects that we have going on and it is going very well,” the minister reported.
