Government’s Cut Rose Project is blooming beautifully, to the extent that it is already able to satisfy over 54% of the local market’s demand. Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha boasted of the accomplishment earlier today as he hosted his end-of-year presser at his Regent Street Office.

The project, a brainchild of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, was conceptualized to create employment for young people, particularly single mothers, and has been on a constant incline.

Mustapha dubbed the initiative as one of the most “innovative” methods employed by the government to ensure that the youth, especially single parents, are included in their plans for agricultural diversification. The Minister said to date, profit from the project stands at $5.3 million. He indicated that production for the year 2023 is 22,895 roses “which represents 54.51% of the 42,000 roses imported annually.”
