Police are investigating a break and enter and larceny committed at the business place of R. Sookraj and Sons General Store located at Lot 10 Main and Church Street, New Amsterdam.
The crime was reportedly committed sometime between 17:30hrs on December 30, 2023, and 06:45hrs on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Enquiries disclosed that the building is a two-storey wooden and concrete structure. On December 30, about 17:30 hrs, the businessman secured his store and went upstairs. At 06:45 hrs yesterday, the businessman made checks in his store and observed that his office was ransacked and a number of items including cigarettes, Digicel credit cards, and electronic items valued over $400,000 were missing.
Investigations are ongoing.
