Head of ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, Alistair Routledge said his company has set an ambitious target of reaching a total cumulative output of 500 million barrels by year-end, following start up of operations in the Stabroek Block five years ago.
During a press conference at his Kingstown office, Routledge in the company of his newly appointed Production Manager, Huzefa Ali, provided key operational updates
Ali shared that total daily production is now at 645,000 barrels of oil. In his disaggregation of this performance, he said the Liza Destiny floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) facility is producing 160,000 bpd while Liza Unity’s output is 250,000 bpd. As for Prosperity, which was commissioned at the Payara project last year November, Ali said it is already touching 230,000 bpd. Notably, all of the ships are operating beyond their nameplate capacity.
Liza Destiny is operating at 40,000 bpd higher while Liza Unity experienced a 30,000 bpd increase. Prosperity is already touching 10,000 barrels more than its original design.
While optimization is key for Exxon, Routledge noted that , “We are opening up the facilities in a very logical, careful sequence based on our engineers review…We never do it without safety reviews, risk assessments, and all of those being reviewed by the government and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).”
Regarding the daily output of 645,000 barrels a day from the three FPSOs, Routledge deemed it a tremendous achievement.
He said the company’s year-end goal will mark a major milestone for Guyana, and that is, 500 million barrels of production cumulatively since start up in 2019. “That’s a target we have in mind for later this year if we continue on the path that we’re on from an operational performance point of view,” said the Exxon chief.
