In the heart of Guyana, amidst the vibrant mosaic of indigenous heritage and cultural richness, one young entrepreneur is composing a narrative of empowerment through her recently launched writing and creative company. Daniela Aurajo, a 22-year-old aficionado of the language and arts is a mission to amplify indigenous voices and ignite the flames of ambition in her community.
Daniela recently launched her writing company “Evolve Media” which provides several writing services that cater for letters, blogs, autobiographies, emails, essays, PR services, social media marketing and management, blog post writing, product description, website content, voice over and script writing for ads, video productions, hosting of events, poetry performances, brand ambassador, and, social media media promotion.
Speaking to the Guyana Standard, she noted her inspiration to start writing and her approach to incorporating indigenous perspectives and culture into her service is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and upbringing. “I share my personal experiences and the experiences of other indigenous persons,” she explained.. “I create a space to promote Indigenous culture and persons who are making strides, as well as a space where we can talk about our rights and feel safe.”
Born in Georgetown but with deep roots in the indigenous community of Lethem, Daniela’s upbringing has played a significant role in shaping her worldview and entrepreneurial spirit. “I spent a big portion of my life [in Lethem],” she revealed, highlighting the influence of her indigenous heritage on her journey.
At just 22 years old, Daniela is already a budding trailblazer in her own right, inspiring other young indigenous individuals to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey so far, Daniela noted that for a long time she heavily considered replacing her full-time job. Now that she has done it, her business is regarded as one of her proudest achievements. “It’s truly a blessing,” she remarked, adding that she is grateful for the opportunity to pursue her passion while making a living.
However, Daniela’s success extends beyond financial gains. For her, the true measure of success lies in the impact she can have on her community. “It is your time to take the torch,” she declared, addressing young indigenous girls who may look up to her as a role model. “It is your time to inspire and lead by example.”
Inspiring the Next Generation
Daniela’s message to young indigenous girls is clear: seize the opportunity to create change and pave the way for future generations. Through her actions and words, she hopes to instill a sense of empowerment and resilience in young minds, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their goals fearlessly.
As Daniela looks towards the future, her dedication to uplifting indigenous youth remains unwavering. “If I can inspire at least one indigenous girl or boy to hold the torch, I can inspire 10 more,” she asserts, recognizing the ripple effect of empowerment and inspiration.

As Daniela continues to blaze a trail in the world of entrepreneurship, she issued a call to action to the indigenous community and beyond. To thrive she said, there must be a commitment to quality and authenticity in everything undertaken, ensuring that indigenous youth make their mark and are represented authentically. “The Indigenous community is a big part of my support system,” she acknowledged, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in driving positive change.
With every job, performance, and initiative, Daniela aims to challenge stereotypes and break down barriers, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for indigenous youth. “I do everything with the intention of showing young girls specifically that we can break those stereotypes and we can shatter glass ceilings,” she affirmed.She believes her journey as a young entrepreneur is a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and community. Through her writing service and advocacy work, she is not only amplifying indigenous voices but also inspiring future generations to believe in themselves and strive for greatness.
When asked about her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, she emphasized the importance of taking action and believing in oneself. “Just start,” she urges. “Don’t wait for the right time to start because it may never come. Start with what you have, and once you believe in what you do, then everything else will fall into place.”
For Daniela, entrepreneurship is not just about personal success but also about creating opportunities for future generations. “Do this for yourself and for the generations that will follow,” she asserts, highlighting her commitment to building a brighter future for her community.
Envisioning Impact
Looking ahead, Daniela envisions her business expanding its reach and impact within indigenous communities across Guyana. “I hope to expand my services even more,” she shared enthusiastically. “If I can possibly have an outlet in different villages providing them with some of the same services, that would be great.”
Currently, Daniela is spearheading a major project in her mother’s village, a testament to her dedication to giving back to her roots. While details remain under wraps, Daniela’s determination to make a difference in her community is palpable.
In addition to expanding her writing services, Daniela plans to launch podcasts focused on highlighting indigenous culture and way of life, as well as other topics close to her heart such as tourism and the creative industry. Through these initiatives, she hopes to shed light on the richness and diversity of indigenous culture while inspiring others to embrace their heritage.
