Former U.S. President, William Jefferson Clinton is set to headline the United Caribbean Forum being organized by the Bilateral Dominican Republic–Guyana Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with significant regional stakeholders. The event is set for March 26 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC).
The forum’s ambitious agenda is aimed at fostering dialogue among business magnates, policy leaders, and sector specialists to aid Guyana’s progress into the future. Discussions will revolve around critical themes such as regional energy security, innovative workspaces, community housing projects, tourism enhancement, carbon trading, hospitality ventures, and real estate growth.
The Dominican Republic’s Ambassador to Guyana, Ernesto Torres-Pereyra highlighted to local journalists today, the importance of unity for regional strength and development, stating, “There will be several opportunities for engagement on Tuesday, but overall, the participants will discuss the notion of how strong we can be as a region if we unite our development efforts to ensure certain key goals regarding energy and food security are achieved.”
Guyana Standard understands that the forum will also feature illustrious personalities including Guyana’s Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, Go-Invest Head Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, and InterEnergy CEO Rolando Gonzalez-Bunster, among others. Their participation underlines the forum’s significance in catalyzing investment and fostering an understanding of the Caribbean’s development dynamics.
Ambassador Torres-Pereyra also expressed his enthusiasm for Clinton’s visit, emphasizing its symbolic value. “The fact that they (the Dominican Republic’s private sector) are coming, together with former President Clinton, will send a message to the world that we trust the institutional and legal framework of Guyana,” he remarked.
The Ambassador added, “Former President Clinton’s participation in the forum is also a manifestation of trust in what is taking place in Guyana.”
He said this forum not only signifies a monumental stride towards regional collaboration but also underscores Guyana’s pivotal role on the international stage, promising a future of prosperity and unity for the Caribbean.
