From humble beginnings to becoming a cherished culinary hotspot, McCurdy’s odyssey is one of passion, perseverance, and community engagement.
Recalling the past four years as she spoke to the Guyana Standard, McCurdy said she cherishes moments when customers shared their candid feedback. “Those are the most memorable moments,” she reflected. “I love hearing customers talk about enjoying the flavor, the taste, the customer service, and all that.” These interactions fuel McCurdy’s passion for food and entrepreneurship, inspiring her to continually enhance the Royal Lucy’s experience.
Since its establishment in April 2020, Royal Lucy’s Grill & Juice has exceeded McCurdy’s expectations. “I wasn’t expecting such rapid growth or to establish the Royal Lucy’s brand so swiftly,” she admitted. Despite the challenges, including managing customer expectations and adapting to industry demands, McCurdy remains committed to delivering quality service and culinary delights.
A notable challenge for McCurdy is managing customer expectations, particularly regarding delivery times. “Some customers expect orders within minutes of placing them,” she explained. However, McCurdy ensures each order is prepared meticulously, emphasizing quality over speed.
McCurdy attributed much of her success to her mother, who has been her steadfast support. “Without her, I don’t know how I’d manage,” McCurdy acknowledged. Together, they’ve built a business that not only offers delicious food but also creates employment opportunities and supports local farmers by sourcing ingredients locally.
The diverse menu at Royal Lucy’s Grill & Juice reflects McCurdy’s culinary prowess and commitment to offering a unique dining experience. From tacos and wraps to waffles and sweet treats, each dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. “I wanted to offer something different,” McCurdy explained. “Something that tantalizes taste buds with a fusion of flavors, spices, and herbs.” 
Looking ahead, McCurdy is optimistic about expanding their reach and providing a welcoming space for customers. “We’re working on a physical location where customers can dine in and enjoy special occasions,” she shared. She hinted at special menus such as Taco Tuesdays and Burger Wednesdays with various types of tacos and burgers. She will also be adding a variety of pastas to her menu.
Moreover, McCurdy shared that she aims to contribute to the local community and economy by creating jobs and supporting local businesses.
