ExxonMobil Guyana is embarking on a crucial phase of its Gas-to-Energy (GTE) project, and is on the hunt for qualified contractors to maintain the grounds along a 25-kilometer onshore pipeline Right of Way (ROW). This initiative is a significant step forward in the development of the West Bank Demerara and Georgetown areas, promising to provide a low-cost and reliable energy source for the nation.
The GTE project, which involves both offshore and onshore components, aims to harness gas from existing offshore developments and transport it to an onshore power generation and natural gas liquids plant facility. This pipeline will play a vital role in delivering up to 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of rich gas to the integrated facility, facilitating the Government of Guyana’s objective of providing sustainable energy solutions to its citizens.
The scope outlined in the Request for Information (RFI) is comprehensive, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public safety and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the pipelines. Among the services required are the safe clearing and maintenance of the 12-meter-wide, 25-kilometer-long onshore pipeline Right of Way. Contractors must also possess the necessary tools and safety equipment, including knowledge and training on local wildlife, emergency response procedures, and waste management protocols.
Additionally, ExxonMobil is asking bidders to demonstrate a commitment to local content development in accordance with the regulations outlined in the Local Content Act (2021). Bidders are required to submit a preliminary local content strategy as part of their proposal, outlining how they intend to meet these expectations. Successful bidders will further be expected to implement an acceptable local content plan upon award, with provisions for regular reporting to both Exxon and the Government of Guyana.
