ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) has announced plans to contract local companies for ground transportation services, professional drivers and vehicle leasing services.
Its recently published Request for Information (RFI), the company said it is seeking suppliers capable of providing 24-hour availability for both airport shuttles and dedicated transportation work.
Other key requirements include the provision of trained drivers with a minimum of three years of experience in defensive driving, along with a support team responsible for supervision, dispatch, and fleet management. Additionally, suppliers must offer a fleet of vehicles comprising Grand Cabins, Coaster Buses, and Medium-sized SUVs, all equipped with essential safety features and maintenance support. Crucially, suppliers must demonstrate proficiency in managing trips, passenger requests, and vehicle movements through advanced systems and tools, including centrally managed GPS tracking.
EMGL’s focus on safety and professionalism extends to the second scope, which centers on the provision of dedicated professional drivers. Suppliers are expected to furnish skilled drivers trained in defensive driving, safety, and first aid, capable of efficiently operating company vehicles while adhering to all traffic regulations. Effective communication, vehicle maintenance, route planning, and adherence to company policies form the core expectations from suppliers under this scope.
In line with its operational requirements, EMGL is exploring the leasing of vehicles through reputable suppliers. The RFI stipulates the need for leased vehicles, including medium and large SUVs, as well as coaster buses and minibusses available on an ad-hoc basis. Suppliers are tasked with providing comprehensive maintenance and insurance coverage for the leased vehicles, ensuring their roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards throughout the lease period.
The company stressed that its commitment to local engagement and compliance is evident in its insistence on the local content requirements outlined in the Local Content Act (2021), whereas prospective contractors are obligated to demonstrate their awareness of the Act’s provisions during the bidding process, including the submission of preliminary local content strategies. Successful bidders are expected to implement acceptable local content plans, with transparency in reporting and compliance with governmental regulations.
