Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum has confirmed that a formal report has been made at the Cove and John Police Station by a woman who claims she was raped by the former Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall.
According to a release from the force, the Chief views the allegations as “serious”; assuring that the matter is under active investigation.
This is the second occasion in which Dharamlall is being accused of rape. He was accused last year of committing the act against an Indigenous schoolgirl. The scandal saw him resigning from his ministerial post.
