Police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred at about 02:10 hrs today (Monday, July 22, 2024) on the Kiltearn public road in Corentyne Berbice, which resulted in the death of an 18-year-old Medical Technologist.
The incident involved a motorcar (#PAF 6330) owned and driven by Niraz Sukdeo, a 24-year-old Medical Technologist from Lancaster Village, and occupant Bibi Aleah Ali (now deceased), the 18-year-old wife of the driver, who was also a Medical Technologist.
Inital investigations revealed the car was processing North along the western drive lane on the road, allegedly at a fast rate, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a Crane that was parked on parapet along the road. The car ended up in a canal on the eastern side of the road.
As a result of the impact, Bibi Aleah Ali was flung out of the vehicle and into the canal. The driver and his wife both received injuries and were picked up by public-spirited citizens and conveyed to Anamayah Memorial Hospital and Skeldon Public Hospital, respectively. Bibi Aleah Ali was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty, while the driver (her husband) was admitted a patient at the Anamayah Hospital suffering from multiple injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
