Get to know the five athletes who will be competing for the Golden Arrowhead in three disciplines at the Summer Games which starts tomorrow.

With just hours before the start of the opening ceremony, here is a closer look at star sprinters, Aliyah Abrams and Emanuel Archibald; teen swimming sensations, Raekwon Noel and Aleka Persaud; and table tennis standout, Chelsea Edghill.

After years of training, months of waiting and pressure-filled moments during the year, the time has finally come for the quintet to put their talents on display.

Aliyah Abrams
Age: 27
Event: 400m
Personal best:50.20s

After making her Olympic debut at 19 in Rio in 2016, Abrams, is back for her third Summer Games and, this time around, she hopes to bring home some hardware or clinch a finals berth. In Rio, the Brooklyn, New York born Abrams failed to advance to the semis, a feat she did achieve in Tokyo. Last May, Abrams set the new 400m national record, breaking Aliann Pompey’s time of 50.71s set in 2009.

Emanuel Archibald
Age: 29
Event: 100m
Personal best: 10.09s    

After making his Olympic debut in Tokyo, Archibald is back for his second Summer Games and, this time around, he is looking to make some noise in the blue riband event. Archibald broke the national 100m record earlier this year and has momentum going into the Games. In a recent interview, the Jamaica based CAC Games gold medalist, Pan Am bronze medalist and World Championship finalist stated that his aim is to become the first Guyanese to breach the 10-second barrier.

When do track and field events at the 2024 Olympics start?

Athletics events for the 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from Aug. 1-11. The action concludes with the women’s marathon on Sunday, Aug. 11, the same day as the Closing Ceremony.

Stade de France will play host to all track and field events for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The venue, which is the country’s largest stadium, will also host rugby matches during the Games.

Chelsea Edghill
Age: 27
Event: Table Tennis

Edghill, became the first player from Guyana to compete at the Olympics in table tennis in Tokyo and was also one of the flag bearers at the opening ceremony three yeas ago. After winning her first match, the decorated racquet wielder was knocked out in the first round. The Brooklyn, New York born Edghill will look to create more history in Paris by going much further in he singles matches which serves off on Saturday.

Aleka Persaud
Age: 18
Event 100m freestyle
Personal best:1m.08.64s

Persaud created history by becoming the youngest Olympian in Guyana’s history at 15 in Tokyo. At only 18, she returns for her second Games in the French capital. The England-based Persaud who holds multiple national records, will be looking to make a big splash when she dives into competition on Saturday.

Raekwon Noel
Age: 18
Event 400m freestyle
Personal best: 4m.03.57s

The only debutant at the Games, Noel who was born in New York and now resides in New Jersey, is one of the youngest competitors in the 400m free. He will aim to soak up as much experience as he can while in the French capital before embarking on a collegiate swimming career at the Indiana University later this year with an Olympic Games on his resume. Noel also competes Saturday.
